Peachy Records has been signing and developing artists in Australia since 1996, and in that time has had many releases in most territories of the world. Initially our focus was on developing artists and then licensing or signing them on to other record companies to release and distribute the product. This strategy saw Peachy Records artists and productions signed to many of the largest and most respected companies in the music industry—names like Universal, Ministry of Sound, Warner, BMG, Tommy Boy, EMI and many more. In fact Peachy Records has done over 50 licensing deals around the world, and our productions have sold in excess of 1 million copies in various formats. While we still take this licensing approach with some projects, the digital distribution world is redefining the way we work, and allowing more market access and more control for our artists every day. With worldwide music industry sales in traditional CD formats starting to slide over the last few years, digital distribution is finally starting to come of age and become a viable alternative for artists. When you think of the amount of money and effort it takes to physically distribute a CD worldwide, for some artists it simply makes more sense to go the digital way. Our goal for the future is to evolve with the changing music market and provide an effective avenue for our artists to reach a worldwide audience without having to sell their souls and their integrity to a major record company, at least until they are in a position to bargain! |
